Otatara School Parking Changes
One can’t help but not miss the development being undertaken by the ICC at “the Loop” on the corner of Marama Avenue South and Dunn’s Road.
The purpose of this is to provide a safer bus pickup and drop off area for the high school pupils from our community. This is being achieved by having a clear embarking and disembarking point on and off the bus, marked bus & car parking, footpaths to encourage pupils to walk safe routes and clearly marking Nivens Road (that cuts right through the “the Loop”) as a road so drivers from the developments that use Nivens road will behave appropriately. In addition there will be tight monitoring of traffic taking place to ensure parents are picking up or dropping off their pupils legally. Please ensure if you are dropping off or picking up students that you do this in appropriate and safe places.
Now looking to our younger pupils – Otatara school Board of Trustees (BOT) has been doing extensive work to redesign the parking, access and Dunn’s road crossing at the school and Otatara Community Centre. Craig Thompson is the lead on this and would love feedback from the community. If you haven’t already seen these changes then they can be found below. There are some sensible and practical changes and I’d recommend you read Craig’s Presentation document, view the plans and if you have any feedback, good or bad, then let Craig know by emailing him at craig@truesouth.co.nz.
